Night Eyes

40,000 miles up in the air

Engulfed in twilight

Alone for the first time - a fledgling.

Just me and The Other Boelyn Girl, resting peacefully on my lap.

Chewing on Cashews and wetting my tounge with Pepsi,

Craning my head around to try to find the soft glow of Columbus.

I found nothing but two stars,

perfectly aligned,

like the very eyes of God Himself.

And it was beautiful, being finally alone where I am truly most comfortable,

with nothing but the stars and a book as my companions,

with the ground so far below my feet,

with the intention of being somewhere new,

For the first time in my life, I was truly alone.

For the first time in my life, I was truly at peace.
